Toasted or just half-done

My super claimed he would be here on Monday at 8:00AM.

He said are you going to be here, sure?

I found that amusing at the time.

So at 8:45am and a no-show, a famous status for this property management team, I called him up. He said he had an emergency and can't come. I said when will you come. He said ma'am I have an emergency. Then he talks to his assistant and says these tenants are something else. I'm hanging up on her.

I postponed an appointment for a couple of hours.

The super and his assistant showed up at 10:00am. I'm like they couldn't even tell me 10-noon.

They replaced the toilet engine with a new one. That speaks volumes on if your real estate agent tells you that you can't test the toilet because they shut it off when the apartment is not occupied that this isn't the apartment for you. Even though I had the property manager and his assistant in this apartment on the second week of May and they said they would replace the toilet as it was not functioning and a host of items they would fix they did not do it. I had asked them do you want me to call and remind you and they say they put it into their computer and do it.

Well they did not and I reminded them 3 months later when the shipped part was supposed to be there and they said they didn't know. I wrote them four times afterwards about the toilet and they ignored it.

Apparently their functioning super was ill and instead of hiring someone who could do the job they just did nothing, said nothing. They were even able to get HPD not to answer my call. They have been able to get the Building Department to post that no further action was necessary on the commercial music going on next door.

To some degree the commercial music has diminished and as soon as I say it they start up obnoxiously for several hours with it.

So now I have functioning toilet after 9 months. As to the refrigerator that freezes my food they called up the service company. When I asked when? They made the same arrogant face. I do not stay here during the day. I need to know when so I can be here obviously.

The refrigerator company gave 11-4 for tomorrow. What a piece of work. It will be a relief to have a refrigerator that works and does not make outrageous noises all the time. I had not used the refrigerator until a couple of months ago. It had been so horribly dirty that even after I finished cleaning it impeccably I still could not bear the thought of it. When I came to the realization that the quality of my life was impaired by not having the ability to have a few items on hand I turned the refrigerator on only to find that it ruined all my vegetables within an hour.

This management company knew they were giving me junk. I had applied for an apartment only $100 more in rent. What they did was take my application and money and then say well we don't think you have the finances for this so we are going to decide which apartment would be right for you. Did they even have that first apartment for rent? I think not. I believe they use that to scam alot of people.

As to the furnace I doubt seriously they'll address it. I told them it was 90 degrees all weekend long and I was only able to get it down by raising the window for five hours. I think they'll not do anything for me on that.

As to the cigarette smoke and the musicians that is something I have to take them to court for as they'll not be doing anything. They don't even answer. When I first moved in they faked a meeting with the board member downstairs and said he didn't smoke. I said I didn't say he smoked and that's not how smoke works in a building.

I can hardly move out right now when the Labor Department has pretty much raped me of benefits due me. I have to take them to court now.

Its far more simpler for all parties if you just be honest and do the right thing. However there is money to be had for making things incredibly chaotic and that is what New York State does in every facet of its responsibility to its citizens.
