the obvious - the resume -- an age comparison

My resume is so refined. Its been through many eyes at agencies whose very survival depended on that resume being a sale.

Then I spent the last six months at WorkForce1 attending seminars on resume and the resume's use in the IT training grant; a competitive, marketable resume is required.

Every job I answer I review my resume and cover letter for customization and correctness.

The true test however has been creating a marketable resume for my nephew who is 34 years younger than I am.

He sent the resume out to ads he found on career builder. He received immediate response and offers for an interview. Within a day he had a job offer.

Splain that?

He is really good looking but lol so am I?

The difference was the age. He got an interview and I did not.

When I switched from the punishing information technology field to legal field the agencies were wow about my skills and how I looked. When they took my federally required state ID to the xerox machine their demeanor totally changed.

Ok let's skip the legal field. I took the bartender license course and received the license. I went to a few cattlecalls for bartenders and was hired. After filling out the paper work which required your state ID I was told no dice, you are too old, you would not be able to handle the job.

Just the obvious?
