Sad that our WorkForce1 is in the hand of petty bureaucrats without a sense of reality

If you look at the course offerings on WorkForce1 http://www.nyc.gov/trainingguide you will find a very high failure rate and low attendance rate 0 or 1. The courses offered are constantly being changed back and forth and they do not reflect the reality of the job market whatsoever. The seminars required for the IT grant do not represent the real work force needs or marketplace.

I tried a breakthrough visit at New York State Labor Department, Varick street as I received a letter informing me about all the joy they would bring me if I visited them there. Before that a brag letter from the Governor about Obama's Pell Grant exalted how NY State had already been doing what Obama was just now doing. Huh and with who or whom? Haven't met a soul who has been so endowed Gov.

As to the New York State Labor Department Varick Street visit, I even called beforehand. Upon arrival I was told that since I had been recommended for training for [blank] by [blank] I would not be allowed to use the Varick street location. hmmm hadn't I discussed this matter with the representative at Varick before coming. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was given a petty bureaucrat who said no, no and no. I asked who to speak to about no Pell Grant offerings in the training guide. No. I even wrote to the federal government and the Pell Grant division of a school. No answer and No for the latter.

Isn't it true that since I am on unemployment that I have duly contributed to the support of this dysfunctional system and indeed pay taxes with each minimal unemployment pay and that I should have some input? Well, read up now, this is my input.

My IT Grant is submitted. The management team (who I have never met and why?) deliberate by phone conference and then have their go between talk to me.

first request: ads that match to my education and experience. They were matching still I tried to appease this unknown management team and submitted new ads.

second request: ads that match to the sustainability factor in the certificate

again I send them ads that have Leeds in them

third request: what will it be?

The point is that WorkForce1's mission is to provide the training that is needed in order to get the job. This sustainability training was swapped out overnight for the facility management training. However once I receive the sustainability training there are many facility management and property manager jobs that I will be eligible for. The sustainability training is just an extra that lends to a very competitive advantage with sustainability leader employers. Without the certificate of sustainability and its training I will not not be able to get the job.

The sustainability training includes the facility and property management training so again as I pointed out in each application what is the beef?

I have been trying since May with WorkForce1 to get some training to place me out of the legal industry. My information technology training was nixed because they were doing away with the course. The paralegal training was nixed by my six agencies as being too low for my experience and get this law firms are only hiring "recent" grads at $30,000 or law school grads. When I researched ads I found the WorkForce1 paralegal training being offered was way below par. None of their paralegal training vendors are endorsed by the American Bar Association and no Pell Grant is offered by New York State Labor Force to allow attendance at such an approved training facility.

When the Labor Department cannot operate with fairness and just cause or any sense of reality or experience then jurisdictional intervention is needed from the New York Supreme Court.

Something is truly wrong with the system and who will help? Surely not Obama it is not his jurisdiction. He just gave them a couple of billion dollars and they tell me they did not use it for the WorkForce training. They used it to balance the budget. Perhaps that is why Obama did not make too much to do with Not the Shoe Thing Again gov upon their last meeting? Bloomberg probably does not have any input except to take credit whenever it can be easily obtained. Perhaps lol too busy getting those traffic signs up that say "Sidewalk Narrows." Yeah so many speeding pedestrians might miss the fact that you can only walk on the pavement as they speed by.

This State and City is a mess and who is going to fix it? Apparently jurisdictional intervention is needed. But people just sigh and say it can't be fixed.

So what is my alternative? It is just go on continuing the last six years of law firms using me on an as needed basis because the Labor Department says that's alright. That's right 7 days and 24 hours year upon year with no benefits, sick days, vacations or any social interaction with the firm. Mostly you will be dumped with all their filing and then when they realize they haven't the skills they need permanently you will be rushed over to mend things up. They don't want to pay benefits and they'll not be getting any extras because I am white and not covered by any quota system. Some of them hire long term temporary for three months and then let go for a week or so then hire back. Its the most outrageous racist age thing I've ever experienced in my life. Yet the Labor Department's actions are that's fine as long as your victim is white.

Coming back from the laundry there was an ambulance out in front of my building...

This is no ordinary street. When an ambulance is here (rare actually never before) it parks in the middle of the street.

There did not appear to be any police.

hmmm

A hospital policewoman came out of the elevator looking disgusted. She looked at me as if she wanted to say something, she held back. I imagine she's thinking the same thing about how I looked because I was going to say nobody but disgusting smokers use that elevator.

People were going crazy upstairs. There was crying. I heard "I was here and I didn't hear it."

hmmm

As I was preparing my bed bug proof box to take to the laundry I heard a lot of thumping and activity right above my apartment. Who lives up there? This older lady with a cane told me she did. The guy down stairs said he didn't think she did. There is so much disgusting cigar smoke and cigarettes and the person who messes with the front door goes up there. Whatever happened, happened there.

I had to go back out to get the second load of laundry, its three blocks down. LOL don't you love luxe living on the upper east side :S As I was going down my one flight of stairs (that's why I hear everything, its a direct line from the front door up to my apartment), some guy was on his cell and also shouting upstairs what's going on up there, then to his cell Frank, then back to upstairs and then to Frank I'll have to call you back later. I want to know who Frank is.

When I came back the ambulance was gone. I took a look at the front door yep it had another notch on it. Then the second door, no damage. Whoever the drunk trying to get in on Christmas eve (actually about 2am) had a key. I was remembering how that second door was flicked only two ways to do it the key or some damage to the door. These are Medeco locks, you can't mess with them. From my experience, and living on 135th street, indeed I've had plenty, people banging on doors like that usually don't get in unless they have the key. The professionals don't come in through door, duh, unless you leave it open unattended for hours.

These property managers are fools. They never bothered to change the front door, they just put a Medeco lock on it. The second door is downright stupid; its metal with glass. But oh the guy downstairs replied to my saying so that the front door is going to be iron. Lol like where is it already? eight months have gone bye. Believe me I have had worse. Lol one day they'll up and find that lock gone buhbye. Yeah so what the sanitation department is across the street, is it really the sanitation department? Acts like a cover if you ask me.

And back to that apartment I thought I would take. Nope decided against it. I had to ask myself why did you ask that slimey broker if they had ever had burglaries as you passed out the door? Its your ace detective intuition calling out to you dear. I've also made a new policy, forget the past, the next time that ass bangs on the front door like that I'm calling 911 to come have a look. Sorry bud your days are up.

Now that is very inspiring, 311 thought outside the database

Very noteworthy.

I refused every solution offered by the database giving an experienced reason why.

Finally like magic the NYC representative had a click and he helped, he really helped me.

I can't write about exactly why, when or how but I will when its possible.

Its a long road ahead, its about noise in my apartment which I said was not residential use.

So we shall see what is going to happen next.

But hip hip hooray you can go out of the database, you can reach out for intelligence and grasp it.

Yesterday I walked from Canal street to Union Square

I was at Canal Street as my manga pen had run out of ink. They sell them there for a 1/3 of the price that is charged uptown. Alas, the shop was closed, like could they have mentioned that on their website?

Not a bad walk. I took the Broadway fork. I was going to walk down to St. Patricks but then I remembered I probably would not be able to handle their spiel about poor people.

It was a lovely walk and I did buy a nepalese hat. My mom had sent me $50, don't worry she hasn't given me a birthday or holiday gift for years (I wouldn't let her). Instead of using this generous sum for part of the required remedial NY real estate sales course that I'll do once I'm told I'm in the sustainable certificate program lol I used 2/5ths of it to buy that hat. Since the scalp cancer scare I've been meaning to buy a hat. The sales guy helped me figure out white or red. He said for you I think the white one is best. The lined handcrafted knit is nice white with a red rose and covers your ears to boot. Yes you can buy one for the 1/4 price at a particular Swedish franchise but I warn you it will be molt for you everywhere and all the time. I returned mine.

That nepalese cap purchase was at the urban space Christmas Shops at Union Square. [Urban Outdoor Markets]

Before Union Square I had a lovely time looking at topshop and French Connection. I might go to those two shops again on Friday or Saturday to see how low they go. hmm however I was at the Macy's website and did find a London Fog and Calvin Klein this quite nice and fits the budget that Geekboy gave me. [http://www.macys.com/ ] Both stores actually had two very nice items that are needed but its too much of a squeeze. So what if Geekboy is threatening that I must throw away that lambskin coat, its seen its day, I love it. Everyone is all bundled and thick and I am so sleek and chic and warm.

I thought this sure part of Broadway was so much like Williamsburg McKibbin/Montrose that day. Lots of young people, mostly foreigners hanging out on the street. Good for them. Lots of Asians pushing you aside so they might get what you are looking at. LOL who cares.

The backlog of certain real estate agency conversations

The title really should be about raccoons and mice in the city...

But haven't I already blogged about mice?

I've only had one look at the apartment I might take on 96th street. Thanks to the holidays I'm having a rethink. Thanks to an overaggressive agency, one that got me this mini-nightmare where I currently reside by the way, a really good rethink.

One of the items the agent was discussing with me was the fireplace. I asked simply if it was sealed and he did not know. Then he said he'd rather mice be crawling across the floor in front of you than the rats that are in the subway or a raccoon.

LOL

I said you know I did see a raccoon on the 95th Street on First Avenue.

So i am just now looking up this raccoon business. It appears if you see a raccoon on the street you should report it. I was thinking does the East River have raccoons? at the time. After all there were fruit bats in Grand Central and the police thought that was kind of neat. [lol wrote about that in my Kick Ass blog Grand Central, New York City, Bat Friendly ]

hmmm

According to this December 2009 NYTimes City Room Blog the raccoons are rabid and causing a stir in the part of Central Park that is at 95-96th street. Oh my gosh so I didn't just have an unusual perspective when I thought it was looking at me haggardly.

[The city blog featured me once for writing about the police at Columbus Square, note 2010 must do a lot more writing and photo logging of city things this year, rise above the health issues. However I am down on the paper as we had a blast out over disability cases and last I knew that I was giving it to the LA Times if they don't cooperate within 24 hours lol like so what]

Back to those subway rats....

I actually did have one of them waddle right in front of me at my Hell's Kitchen apartment (oh I didn't know, Mayor Dinkins rezoned it to Central Park South). I land line phoned the landlord up and they just asked me what color and stated they'd be over sometime the following week. They stated that's because I have food. Ahem I stated I live in Poughkeepsie during the week and come back some weekends to check up on things; there is not a stitch of food in this apartment.

Correlative events had happened earlier in the year when I had been working across the street at a major media corporation and they were becoming so much more relative, clearer. I had been home sick and witnessed very hot water flooding from the cabinets in the kitchen and then evaporating. These landlords had just renovated this apartment to electric heating, electric cooking the whole works. They had illegally doubled the rent stabilized apartment to do so. This was the first rent controlled apartment I had ever had so at the time I did not know that you could get a copy of your apartment's history (actually you could not) nor was the landlord required to state the last rent on your lease. All I knew was that my electric bills were $400 a month and I did not have a single electric appliance or clock except what the landlord had newly installed in the apartment. The electric company would give me their bureaucratic sass upon several inquiries. After that water leak discovery and repair the bills fell down to $20 a month. The landlord stated that it was not their fault.

See how it is? That is exactly the ripoff that has been going on for years except for now its right in front of your face as if to say hahaha there is nothing you can do.

I'm in awe in remembrance; mainly because this guy next door is playing the phrase 'silent night, silent night" over and over again since 9:00am and still going on with it at noon. I take it he's some kind of composer.

And yesterday about midnight someone was banging down the front door and then finally I heard the second door being flicked. Then there was that awful oppressive smoke that some of these people in this building puff up to my room. What an ass I thought, smoking in the hallway. Call the police? LOL they'll just come in four hours and look at the outside of the building and say they found nothing. This isn't Harlem where they come within five minutes.

In my 135th street apartment that I shared with oh so many other people one of my roommates had also heard the storming of our door and she called the police. They found fresh spit at the doorway but alas, we were supposed to have the culprit handcuffed and inside the apartment waiting for them. The next day our landlord phone me up to say that we better not call the police again.

The guy below me in current apartment thought it was rather drastic that I had called the police when this next door neighbor was playing band music in my room from 1am-5am. LOL I wrote that neighbor a month before about the sounds that were pounding me, the vibrations of my bed, the floor. I'd already written the landlord. I called 311 halfway through their something majorly wrong with you and they recommended the police who later claimed they came at 7am. I don't think they did. I did not hear anyone call out police and no one rang my video camera.

The way that guy below me leaves the front door open so he can bring in his piles and piles of groceries or get his family out on a trip...literally hours... I can imagine he could not give a damn about security. Oh he has an alarm on his door. His dog still barks for hours in the afternoon and the night, sometimes in the morning. I know there is someone home. I think that should be reported to Cruelty to Animals before the police. Still...he is on the board of this coop. He's the bully, the one that hears hammering and knocks at my door no matter what time of day and shouts out are you hammering. LOL I don't even own a hammer and why should I? I am just a rental tenant. Later he'll tell you when you inquire on the street that it was the construction outside or oh its the people upstairs. When you ask him if he hears the guy next door to me he'll say no and wouldn't he if there was a problem? I answer well its just that guy and me with the same floor and wall. The bully will turn red in the face just like when you answered his people can smoke in their apartment with I don't care what they do in their apartment we are talking about what they are doing in mine. When you come into the building you hear the practice, band and music. When you come up to my door it sounds like the music is coming from my apartment.

Yep, this is the apartment this real estate agency got me and said they helped manage. That is what the agent from the same agency is telling me about the possibly new apartment. Its the same thing floors that have gaps that are not going to be rectified by change in season. An apartment that needs to be sanitized in the bathroom and I did not check out the stove. Yet the same thing is said they don't have to clean the apartment and they are not going to fix the floor.

The item that should set off all kinds of alarms within me warped windows, windows with more than two dollar high width of open. I mean, really, girl how bad do you want to move out of your current $1100 a month joint?

The agent states that they just need to caulk the window more and he points to the other badly caulked window. Now I know exactly what it is to be totally frozen out in winter and have flies coming in during warm weather. Its nothing I want to repeat. I noticed the landlord did not come back to me with they'll fix the windows or seal the fireplace when I inquired to the agent in writing. The fireplace has wood in it and I was told the landlord doesn't really want you to use it. That lets me know it has not been cleaned or sealed.

You know if not now then its going to be never. Yep they have the same spiel that after the first of the year they are going to raise the rent if they can't get it rented this year. I'm like, hmmm they are rent stabilized. I'm pretty sure they can't do any of that.

I wrote a chimney company about the fireplace and they said that sealing the fireplace is easily done with a handyman. So looked sealing up on e-how and I'm like I think it would take a bit more than that. If they don't have a damper on the roof its going to cost money. Handymen cost at least $100. I suppose its relative to what the chimney company would cost.

As to the windows if caulking fails as it is so miserably doing in that apartment then the trouble is with the window components; meaning the windows would have to be replaced. Thus its not an economical thing for this landlord to do.

The floor seems as if it could be remedied. When I spoke of it to the agent at our only meeting he said remember you can lose your deposit for damaging the floor. pinch pinch should that have not set off some more alarms? Really is my current apartment that bad in light of the fact that there probably is rampant smoking in this potential home building? I will visit the apartment again when there are a lot of people at home, definitely have to come there at night or 11am on a weekend. Also, other people who smoke will most likely move in. So....yep we need a whopping court case to settle all the smoke issue once and for all. Apparently I'm the only one who can really do it.

This current apartment is way bad yet it does have its redeeming features being that I have the option of an elevator and the windows are extraordinarily good so I do not freeze at all. Bugs lol there are many. Still that place seems to have the potential for a lot more than that.

Yes I will hold steady. I have more research to do and then weigh everything. I am so glad I have this time to do it.

After all when you go to the building department violations page for the current apartment it has so many unresolved complaints regarding the elevator and the environmental department concerning unauthorized plumbing in the basement. The floor in current apartment has always had a soft spot and lots of squeaks. I could not get the landlord to take care of it before I moved in. The agent said this is a sponsor unit and they do not want to spend one penny on it; it is income for the coop. As to the toilet in current place I was not allowed to test it because it wasn't on. They said when the apartment is unoccupied it is turned off. The toilet has never worked properly, often quite scary. The landlord said they had to ship a part in three months. When three months was up and there was no part I asked. They did not answer and I asked again in person and the partner grimaced as if I was complaining too much. LOL these New York City landlords are beyond the pale of integrity. Potential toilet is also brown but it did flush weakly. hmmm

Of course this new apartment is totally clean on the Buildings violations department site. There were problems with the boiler in 2003 but since then nothing. You have no complaints about stairs, or doors or anything. Back in 1990s there was a complaint about construction on the street and cracks in the building but the buildings department did not find it to be so. Not that I trust the buildings department. The new apartment has one of the cleanest violations department records. That is pretty amazing. Does it speak well for the building or do they have their most excellent hand in?

In a way its onwards for me. There are other apartments in the city and I will use this Friday to dig in to that treasure chest yardeharharhar. It would probably be best to stay away from that last real estate agency anyway. Each agent there is a clone of the other. They all say the same lying things. I am going to be totally pinched if I give a fee of $1750 to one of these agents for sure and the place winds up to be worse than the last. The new apartment will cost the same as the present apartment with that fee for the first year. However the new apartment is rent stabilized so you won't have some greedy coop raising it at whim nor storming on you for another lease when they haven't signed the first and then giving you one that has all the prices changed and when they can kick you out. A rent stabilized lease will not be able to kick you out just because. The same rights to take each apartment to Housing court are there, but why would I want to do that?

Vote for Receiving Trash by Design

Well I got this from www.curbed.com

Vote on the litter trash receptacles at Bryant Park

Bryant Park is getting new trash receptacles and the public is asked to give some feedback.

Its kind of neat in that you get three choices for the design and three choices for the color.

Conforming to just three, oh well.

I voted and I was with the great minds think alike.

Vote on the litter trash receptacles at Bryant Park

How about you? Even if you don't live in New York City, you may one day visit, what would you like to see (please don't vote for grass green, I live here, lol, too much contrast between the real thing)

I'm sure for some people its good to be Chucked

You know like people who are lucky enough to wear converse.

Remember this campaign? Wasn't that fun?

I want to get Chucked!

Oh to be Tatto'd and Chucked without changing shoes...

*I am truly LMAO when I look back at those 2007 writings because the images are gone due to 'Not the shoe thing again' Gov instituting Amazon law and subsequent ecommerce laws whereby all internet marketers lost their job. Show me the money! lol he made nothing, loser! lost money duh because those marketers did not have income to report.

and....people who make more money under and over the table than I do and get tons of government benefits...I've researched on-the-book facts this entire year and I experienced it all of my life in New York City. Yep I paid for it in taxes, even when I had no money.

Today Chuck Schumer writes that the Senate has passed Healthcare Nightmare I and yet another delay the House Bill has to be blended. And...then another vote... whoopee! Love the process an inadequate and farcical bill that changes nothing and the ever lovin' media suspense and dragout of yet another "groundbreaking" vote.

Come on I know the medicaid process. I made $0 and I was denied it. I made $300 and I was denied. Then I went in and kicked legal butt and I got it ...lol they dragged out the vote for 4 months and then said I had it beginning with the previous 4 months and that the last 4 months of it I would have have to prove that I was entitled to it. And in between on your mark, get set go, try and find a doctor that takes it and lol hope that their schedule is not booked out for months and then...lol hope that they are competent.

Still I was able to achieve what I set out to achieve with all my might, force, intelligence and perseverance--> to finally prove that in New York City you take a very healthy person and for sure within a few years you will have 100% physically assaulted her; down to the point of asthma and cancer. LOL and when you do prove you will have to go back to the crooked judge and say you know I told you that I was blind and can't do the work right now. You said you don't care and threatened me with an unfairly represented and bullying deposition. Lied to me about the court awards per cause, you misrepresented the awards it is $25,000 per cause and I had three. Like duh I didn't care but I wanted to be able to bring my bodyguard and you would not let me. So don't be surprised when in February I come back with the medical goods and my legal bomb. You are all going down. Every last one of you and when I relish something trust me you wish I did not. You may have power and money but I have something you do not have, talent. Talent goes a very long way in this world

I had to manage my healthcare and do the research and ask for items. Once those items were brought to light they were seen to be truly valid. What was proven is that the environment is kicking me in every place it can. The environment is the federal government, New York State and New York City's responsibility. They are liable as well as the landlords that kiss in the patooka every election term.

LOL what I found is that the poorest person in New York City after all benefits are taken into consideration made 8 to 1000x more than I did. They have food, a nice home, a lawyer, clothes and medical benefits up the kazoo.

So please wow are you going to include me in your new round of millions low income people or am I after 35 years of paying for these people, just plain not on the list.

What a doh! system.

I don't need you anyway. I got all my medical work done and did so in a very short time and I will most likely have at least one of my businesses started in February with or without you New York City bootcamp....

When I talked to the WorkForce1 people on Thursday they said you should have your own legal business; you really know the law. Yep if you want to survive in this very silly small town they call New York City you will. Too bad though I get ocular migraine now at the first lie these lawyers tell. Nope no can do. Not fun, nauseating. Yep, I actually have to go to the bathroom and throwup after a lawyer has spoken. Not for me! Besides which 5 years ago my award winning German sculpture teacher said that I had an exceptional artistic talent. She sent me to the top curator and introduced me as a great artist to all the faculty. Too bad I was downtrodden by this city, and I could not even breathe no less than hold anything in my hand. LOL I was chastized for not doing torch and metal and all that lalala land. I was writing and creating it in paper. For I will not do anything within my control to jeopardize my health. I am a healthy person because no matter what physical obstacles I had to meet I met them and I refused to let a doctor take care of it. I heal myself time and time again. I have been doing it and I will continue to do it. Why I need medical care is to document for legal purposes lol. Duh.

I don't see what the big kick of the Hudson Yards and #7 extension is

the slush team

First off don't buy this affordable s***. The affordable apartments I have seen were $2,000 a month and upwards. Most of the affordable "waiting" lists are closed years before the project is even completed and only the connected are on them.

Its total bollocks to recreate that which does not work and is already outdated, the 2nd Avenue Subway and the #7 Subway extension. When your city doesn't have quality of life because the buses don't come, people smoke at the bus stop and the handicapped monopolize the service (which includes not only ear deafening bells for the handicapped person going down but the empty chassies coming up (that's stupid) and the subways when and if they do come are overloaded, you can't get in... And still you find one passenger in cars and taxis and they are in the bus lane..

What business do you have creating another total disaster clone...none.

Not only the quality of life of the commuter but more the lack of quality of life for the community at the construction site. In their whole entire lifetime these residents will not have had a piece of quality of life.

When all of these megadevelopments are finished generations later they will be mere laughing stocks. Subways and buses are so cliche...

Look at what these top six are doing, New York City is #7...

Trendy Princess 2009

LOL I might be moving to lex and 96th street afterall

Right next to the large complex where I had a lease when I was rich. Of course, it also might be my next job when I complete my grant certificate.

Too funny after I am saying the site has way too much cigarette smoke to ever allow a building or buildings to be smokefree. Will be for sure totally curious as to what happens when Related and Kenbar really go smokefree.

Yep I saw the apartment and liked it and my current landlord told me I was free to go free of penalty (hehehe this is the part where we learn what that really means).

My grant is in as I manually forced, pushed, kicked and screamed it in yesterday.

LOL and apparently I passed the accounting and computer exam as I have officially been accepted to the Bookkeeping certificate course. Actually bookkeeping is a very essential skill for the job mentioned above. I'm there and I'm kicking it in. Soon I will be rich again and while I'd rather not bore myself totally as a Senator do not discount that I might very well be mayor of this city if the current one ever leaves. For sure next year and forward I will be fighting for this city like you have never seen or witnessed before. The city is begging for someone who really has common sense, aesthetics, talent, ultra good looks, totally NON SLUSH and basically hot to run it. LOL move over.

Did we just get chucked?

Yep and trust me its not a good thing for New Yorkers or my fellow Americans.

The problem with this nation? Its New York State senators.

Mr. Chuck Schumer doesn't have to worry about 2010 reelection its in the pocket. The other whatshername democrat who filled in for Hillary Darling is the lightweight and apparently a midweight Republican will knock her out come 2010.

Its the money darling. Show me the money! Chucky has $10 million, do you?

He's got the 31 companies who owe him big for giving them benefits for their robbing. Since he did allow, prod, push, nurture the whole deregulation of the finance industry to happen anyway... he's owned and not by you the New York State citizenry.

Yep folks the Republicans are wimps and no Democrats left on the plate as they've staked out Paterson's throne. Lol Rick What'sHisName for Gov. No way, it will never happen. But who will stay in the throne, my bet is Paterson. Oh no, not again, not the shoe thing.

The Independents have remained smashbox since Hillary Darling got the media support in her senate reelection. Yep even though their candidate had the vote he did not have the money so therefore basically he could not run medialistically speaking. [sorry when there is no way but down you have to start creating better words]

So how will we chuck Chuck?

Look what he is up to now. Taking donations for the healthcare issue which is an insurance issue only. You know where that money is not going to. He wants Medicaid to be given to more low income level people. He wants more rules and regulations for the insurance company, lol. What exactly does that mean Medicare and Dunkin Donuts? When you can't say it straight well it ain't.

"• Cover 31 million more Americans, including expanding Medicaid to 14 million lower-income, working people
• Require insurance companies to spend at least 85% of their income on providing care instead of marketing and bonuses
• Increase funding for the National Health Service Corps, which recruits physicians and dentists to work in underserved communities across the country
• Increase funding for community health centers in 10,000 communities across the country, enhancing primary care for more than 25 million people who have traditionally been uninsured or underinsured
• Close the Medicare Part D "doughnut hole" for seniors' prescription drug coverage
• Prohibit insurance company discrimination based on gender or pre-existing condition -- and make sure you can't lose your insurance because you get sick
• End the unsustainable, skyrocketing increases in insurance premiums
• And to top it all off, actually cut the federal deficit by $132 billion (per Congressional Budget Office figures)" == from fundraising letter

Chuck him please. oops forgot its not like Mafia Wars where everything I ask is done in less than 11 seconds. Too bad, such a pity.

LOL LMAO received a hospital bill for $235 or something whack like that

Now you know I called and faxed the hospital advocate with all the bills and threat letters that belonged to his hospital. Just to be sure he got them I had Staples do the faxing. LOL

So yesterday I opened this retarded billing statement that claims I was a patient transfer on some far fetched date. LMAO total bill $369 and I get a discount and have to pay $235.

Yep I must go to Staples tomorrow and fax this bill to the advocate.

Didn't I write well he'll bust chops but the bills will still keep coming. Little did I know that they would start inventing dates and reasons and amounts.

God I love to hate cheaters.

How the Snow Storm meltdown was handled proves the incompetence of the City

Our snow storm dump was on Saturday.

The city did not start clearing away the snow until Monday morning when everyone is going to work.

People were stepping into lakes of water.

I was attending an orientation and 3/4ths of the class was late. This made me late to another appointment. An appointment that never answers their phone or voicemails. To get in touch with them you have to call 311 and go through the same correction of their misinformation, duh, like don't you keep records of your calls and learn from it.

I've lived in NYC for 35 years and we've been through far worse storms than this under a different mayor. We never had to wade through puddles and slush through ice and snow several days after a storm. What gives? Well Mr. Bloomberg made landlords responsible for their sidewalks and the courts are filled with his appointments. Those appointments campaigns are padded by these landlords. That's right these landlords aren't going to do a thing and it will cost you millions to fix just one of them.

Loser system that's for sure; hardly the best. This city has become a sludge of duh people. The only thing I like is what has always been here, though Mr. Bloomberg surely has tried to demolish it. I love to see Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Seagram building. It really is the only thing left that makes sense in this city.

a Basic Flaw in the WorkForce1's program -- dependence on ads

Yep after I have already visited WorkForce1 Center 8 times, the last appointment the woman said she had 15 minutes only when I arrived. That's right travel an hour to get there.
Today she writes I have to come back and give her new ads for the grant.

You have to realize that most ads written today will not be available 3 months later when the certification program ends.

Most critical is the fact that wants ads are written for a specific person, they are not written for a job. The WorkForce1 program's mission is to give a person the training they are missing in order to get a job.

Duh!

So that's why the sustainability job ads you will ever see posted are the ones that are for Master's Degree in engineering and 15 years of experience in construction. LOL

The networking jobs you will find will deal with you the person and their job.

Such a pity, love to see the stats on how many people this agency of New York State has actually placed and what was their racial makeup. Its obvious, very obvious already what is going on here.

After this next visit I am just writing the Labor Department a summation of what went on and let them know that their letters that they write really are not factual. They don't have anything in their centers that can provide me with help. The reason I am unemployed is not due to any lack of skill, willingness or grace; its due to discrimination. Its not me you need to heal; its you and your BOSSES. LOL get a life

New York City's Smoke-Free - A cruel game against the non-smoker

There is not one piece of information in New York City's Smoke-free propaganda that supports the non-smoker. The only efforts have been to help smokers with their addiction. The mayor has had this program out for six years and so what? and what's new? The truth is that none of his program has worked and his program did nothing to help the non-smoker. He just made matters worse for non-smokers by pushing the smokers back home to smoke outside the bars, in the hallways of their apartment buildings or the front doors or roofs of these buildings.

The woman who moved in with her barking dog smokes and then sprays perfume to cover it up. There is white smoke in my apartment and my hair smells like her cheap cigarettes. I will have to sue her as well as the new tenant on the other side who smokes and plays with his band at 1AM in the morning. Where is the landlord in all this? He's still fanning himself with his "I conquered bed bugs" flyer. So here I sit writing my NY Supreme Court brief and letters to the tenants in this building and landlord. They will be sued as a class. I have written five letters to my landlord concerning the smoke in the building. When I moved in I took three weeks worth of air samplings. I will begin sampling again tomorrow. I will have a hair sample test and cotitine test done. I will hire a second hand smoke expert. This is what you have to do to get through the barricade the city has at its civil courts to bar second hand smoke cases. I know I've been there and done that; I have a book about it almost ready for publication. I will add this case to it.

When I first moved into this townhouse the real estate agent wrote me emails stating that there was no smoke in the building and if there were the landlord would take care of it. Actually when I wrote him about the smoke and talked to the landlord within a week of residing in this apartment the real estate agent came to my apartment to threaten me. He called me up on the cell phone and said he was on the stairs with a tenant and they couldn't smell smoke and if there was smoke the carbon monoxide monitors would go off. That's funny the one in my room doesn't even have a battery in it. The facts were not behind his proclamations. He wanted his commission which would come from the landlord. My complaint was standing in his way.

"Breathing secondhand-smoke causes morbidity and mortality from cancer, heart disease, and respiratory disease, as well as acute sensory irritation. It causes the premature death of hundreds of thousands of nonsmokers worldwide. Smoke-free buildings are the only remedy. Secondhand smoke cannot be controlled by ventilation, air cleaning, or spatial separation of smokers from nonsmokers."--shs

Appeasement is over

LOL and all of these Obama supporters are grumbling. But why? Isn't it true that most of the supporters other than Buffet and Wall Street were college students and first time voters?

Obama is still the fine young man he always was. He's your president, now you support him.

I voted for Nader strictly because there was no insurance company or wall street mafiaso supporting him. Mr. Buffet and Wall Street (the 31) supported Obama and it was merely for one reason, appeasement. Mr. Nader has a long history of taking the health care industry to task and therefore I saw him as an experienced leader.

It doesn't matter who is president, things are not going to change until you get rid of the crooks that run this country and this fact is truly deep.

Instead of grumbling at your candidate, support him and realize that once again you were taken but its your own fault, you would not listen.

Next time remember how ugly you all were to each other, it wasn't about what was good for the country, it was about who hated who. That's too bad, like I said Obama is a fine young man with great ideas.

Remember this and don't you forget it:

“You Do Not Cut Deals with the System that Has to Be Replaced”: Ralph Nader on Secret White House Agreements with the Drug Industry

The best thing you can do for your country is don't support drugs, refuse to take them, rarely go to the doctor, outlaw automobiles in dense areas and energy companies taking your clean water and air away. Don't let a few smokers ruin your belongings, air and habitability. Fight them tooth and nail. Eat healthy, don't eat packaged products or use products with promises and hope on them (like phelates laden products). Phelates

Just read yet another blog about the non-smoker building

The building opens soon on Lexington and 96-97th street. First off, the studios start at $2,200. Second the 80/20 program waiting list is closed and no such program will be available for the third building, they did not get that kind of financing.

Good intentions; bad environment.

The stats are in and of course its all relative. Lower economic areas have more smokers. Lol and you know there are tons of high economic smokers because you walk by the met life insurance company building on 23rd, wall street, Avenue of Americas and there are tons of high economic smokers there. LOL

There is so much smoking on these streets and avenue; do you really think smoke is not going to come into that building. LOL no rules are ever followed in New York City. You will have people breaking in, visitors, real estate agents and their smoking clients and above all you'll have staff smoking. Its not that great an area at all; very dense and an impossible subway stop that if you ever get on the train you'll wish you hadn't. Trust me I sure do know, been there and done that.

I don't get how anyone can say with a straight face that their public life in New York City has been smoke free. From the time you hit the pavement you face sidewalks filled with cigarette butts and dog poop. There are at least 6-12 smokers per street and avenue. Most often you are caught in the middle of 3-4 smokers. That's right this classless people smoke while they are walking on a crowded street, wherever and however (waving, swing, puffing to the side, all variants accepted). Just like dog poop they can smoke in the middle, to the right or to the left. Its one big free for all.

Who gave them the right to do this? I guess the same person who gave the guy who ate a whole salmon, cream cheese bagel on the bus this afternoon or the woman on the subway who had a whole MacDonald's spread their rights. Its the same right that smokers claim when you say they have no right to smoke in your apartment.

Ok let's say you hang out at the bars and that's your public life. Well for sure there is smoking in the bars, there just may not be smoking in the bars Mr. Bloomberg frequents.

I am appalled about the bar that is on the avenue where I live. They smoke 10-12 of them right in front of the bar's door and many of the drinkers come out so drunk they can't walk straight. Let's see in my bartending class they stressed that if a drinker has had one too many you are not to serve them, it is against the law, you can go to jail. Lol, anything goes and has gone since Mr. Bloomberg took our dear city away from us. I wonder after these four years will he give it up or once again say that noone can take care of the city but him.

LOL too much.

Apparently when it comes to clean air LEED's certification is a farce

It makes you wonder who is behind LEED's certification, cigarette companies?

If you have one smoker in your building then your building is not smoke-free. No ventilation system or air cleaner can possibly take the cancer away.

LEED persists in the following hogwash:

Sure changes my forced mind (WorkForce1 changed their unstimulated training offerings to one that includes LEED's certification (darn it)). Funny how there aren't any jobs for it. I submitted my Information Technology grant and it was rejected as there are no jobs other than the required want ads I submitted.  Then I submitted the grant for Sustainability training (a property management program that supports Leed certification).  WorkForce1 has now pulled this training offer off the list. Currently  I have added two new certifications to my resume using my own powers.  I am finishing another as I write. I mean to have a job with or without you New York State.

What a piece of work. I obviously am not about to support or learn about any program that promotes smoking in residential buildings. Five long years I have suffered, two years in a civil court that is bereft of any integrity.  I understand that the defendant is always protected but to be presented with bonified evidence of the second hand smoke and say that proves nothing is a bit too much.  Such a statement about proof is empty.

I live in a city that is not smoke-free though it tells the world it is. I'm living in this loser townhouse. In the past three months the landlord has knowingly moved in two more smokers. I only get really sick when these people smoke. All of my belongings smell like cigarette smoke. Besides being addicts, one smoker plays with his band 1am-5am weekdays, another breaks into their apartment at 2am because they can't find their key and the other smokes in his garden right outside his back door right below where I live and his next door neighbor barbq's right under my window.

No right to smoke in a residential apartment house exists in any law or lease. I've got the most illegal lease there is, 28 pages long and it mentions not one word about smoking. If smoke trespasses into a neighbor's apartment (there are five smokers doing so in mine) then well cough up the rent and hospital bills and pain and suffering. This townhouse management hasn't been able to get their ass off the ground to even fix the toilet that has never worked (that's seven months).   They now admit what they denied when I first moved in that there are bedbugs and that they have instantly removed them.  As long as the landlord makes any effort New York City health department will not move, such moving never results in any action anyway.

Today I went to the place that sold me my leather sofabed and

got a job for the last three days of the year (actually I got that last night by writing one of my agents). Lol its not like I'll make any money, actually I'll lose some but what the hey its for the morale department.

And as to the bed. Exactly, just what I have been saying. If you take the leather off the sofa bed its ruined. There is no turning it over or any such thing like that. The entire bed is wrapped in leather.

The company told me they don't sell covers for it. Like its a sofa already.

Also no one has come to them and said hey that treo leather sofa we bought from you a while back has bed bugs in it. They said it was the building's issue. I'm saying again, exactly.

The management company for the building just ignores anything I've written about this bed o'mine. Its not in their keywords list and neither is asthmatic and provide a place while you exterminate. They ignore it. Its like the resume that is so stellar but for sad no keyword affiliations. And to think their literature states those with asthmatic conditions should stay away from their apartment for 48 hours. There was an apartment next door to me that was totally empty and these landlords own quite a few empty apartments.

These landlords went ahead and exterminated the apartment. Extermination meaning spraying behind my bed. LOL. I happened to be there so I stopped the guy because he was going to spray my sofabed. Actually he did spray some of it. He said oh, asthmatics, you need to stay away four hours. I said then so why does the literature state two to three days. He said well this extermination is waterbased and after it dries there is no harm.

What can I do there is my landlord and he's saying how are you today like anything I've said about this bed bug situation is a matter of temperment. Honestly, there are cracks around the frames of the closet door and the bathroom door (he hit that frame once and it fell off and he hit it back on); the cracks in the floors, around the radiator and the air conditioning, the ceiling and seams of the walls. Deal with the bed found infested by the bed bug beagle and give me a place to rest my head while this is being done. Yeah all these things bad temperment. So bad that the dermatologist nurse said you must see what is in that sofabed; its important! I told her about the extermination; she said that you are suppose to be away from that for three days. I'm building an army against these landlords already, some of them come with needles.

My predicament is that there are a variety of bugs in this apartment and I do not want to buy a new bed and bring it into this place. All the landlord has done is bring the guy with the regular bug canister to my apartment. I said wait a minute let's talk about this. If there are bed bugs still in this apartment we are going to have deja vu and also the last time you did this I got ocular migraine which I definitely do not want to get again. I sent him home with a bag of bugs which he claims all were crushed beyond recognition except for the beetles. hmmm oh and that none of them were bed bugs hmmmmmmm

Well indeed. The Mayor of NYC has a Bed Bug Council and they are just due are a tad bit late on their delivery of their report on bed bugs, epidemic year 2009. hmmm umma??

Meanwhile my landlord claimed he conquered the bed bugs and asked anyone to tell him if they see any bugs. So I saw and I told and he wrote back that I cry wolf and have no bugs in my apartment and that there were never bed bugs in the whole building. He states that I can move without penalty if I like. Like did I ask?

I think I'll call up the City Council person who helped alot in getting that bed bug council together as she did have some involvement with the same pesticide company that did the bed bug beagle scouting and the great spray thing behind my bed. Ok its on the list. I've written up what I will say. Its about four short meaningful sentences.

like tomorrow folks...

The fact that I'm a healthy person doesn't mean I'm well

Huh?

Yep, it all boils down to environmental factors.

No matter how the doctors spin it, each and every time we wind up back to the first block of information. Landlords behaving badly and the City allowing them to.

Oppressive cigarette smoke residing rent free in non-smokers apartments.

Insects due to really bad exterminations. A bundle of problems there. There really is no city authority that will help you out with this.

LOL so tonight I'm researching folliculitis as a possibility. Of course I'll have to go through blood tests and more scrapings but the rarity will quite commonly be found due to insects after all other factors are ruled out. And what did I say in each first visit? That I had been through six months of chicken pox/shingles (showing the prescriptions for steroids and the city hospitals cancellation of such) and another six months of bed bugs with a dishonest landlord. There are a mix of bugs here, its not just bed bugs. One of the bugs has been identified, the others were crushed claimed the landlord's exterminator (who also left a muffin paper with crumbs inside the bag that held my bag of bugs). ick!

to be continued....

Geekboy asked me if I had done another spammogram

My answer was LOL.

Yesterday evening I was all over New York Presbyterian Hospital's website. I might use them. I have to test how user friendly they are over the internet. I'm asking them two specific questions and grade them on how well they answer. Then we'll see if we can do business; I am the customer afterall.

Today I was at the dermatologist for the biopsy reports. The reports were too sketchy. I have to go get some more blood tests. Skin cancer is ruled out and that's a huge hip hip hooray. I did promise I would wear more hats. Never underestimate the sun.

Wow my doctor is so quick he said we are going to give you some cortisone shots and that's going to go away and he did it right there. I'm like wait a minute, too late, done.

He loaded me up with shampoo and lotion and ordered the bloodtest. One think I just loved he said that that allergy test I took was not a bit of good. He said everyone is allergic to those things. I said most of those things never even showed up in an allergy test taken years ago through blood tests. Good skeptism united.

I know I am going to get a job soon as I am armed with a totally different field and prospects. I defy Workforce1 not to give me that grant. I'll just LOL them if they don't and say yes to the job offer. I made a spectacular resume today. When I get a job I am getting private insurance; its the only way to go. The other kind of insurance, government insurance, will totally waste your time and your morale. Both of those parts of you are worth way way more than the service you'll get from the gov, so why waste it.

that 24 hours boycott did not even make a dent

The 24 hour boycott of Zynga's Mafia Wars did not even make a dent because it was not cohesive enough. In the next few days more groups formed saying different things, one even supporting boycotting Zynga until they take care of their loyal users.

I'd already done my boycotts on my own; however I did join that group on Saturday and not only did I boycott Zynga; I boycotted Facebook. If I leave the game Mafia Wars I will no longer use Facebook; as I have no other use for it. From my perspective its huge social pollution.

The attitude of Zynga before the Boycott was we are glad you like our game so much. Lol just like my landlord, you try to settle an agreement that will include fixing up the apartment and later he tells the judge she liked our apartment so much that she asked to extend the lease. Freaklords that's for sure; a huge aversion to considering what truth is.

I don't spend much time on the game at all. Just a half a second touch here and there; keeping my hand in. I've got better things to do, that's for sure.

Science has a way of biting itself in the ass as it layers up with capitalism

Well still no response at all from the consumer action...

I found some more papers that connected even more fraud. I was being double whammied with bill collections and insurer and insurer handler determinations. There are 4 different account numbers and claim numbers. That's why I'm its the hospital, no its the center, no its the hospital. Actually its both. Its still the same players but you have to match up which belongs to who and because their names are the same the date is the only piece that helps. Lol except for the hospital billed for a service that they did not provide on a date that is a month later from the simple chest xray that they accepted a prescription for, that was not theirs to accept. Crazy.

As far as the hospital's part the most recent $50.00 bill is for a doctor that they had look over the chest xray. Additionally this hospital billed for a day that was a month later from my visit and the reason was medical care. The amount charged was in the thousands. The insurer did not pay or charge anything. A month later I am billed $50.00 for this doctor with no explanation just the same date as the xray. I did the footwork as soon as I received the first hospital bill and had already taken care of the payment. Yet, still, I received determination letters from the insurer and bills from the hospital's radiologist (the same name as the imaging center), unwavering and condemning me to a trial.

As far as the imaging center for the standard, routine, never had before, bone density and mammogram I have been receiving determination letters from Care Core. Too much. For this I spent five emails and five phone calls to the insurer. In one call I obtained two referral numbers to represent the investigation of doctors at that center that I had given the insurer's representative. I also asked to speak to a supervisor and the people on the phone said sure, then they were laughing in the background and gave the phone to some guy who said he would call back. He never did.

To date I am receiving billing threats from the advanced imaging center and yet the latest statement from the insurer has paid for the visit.

What did I achieve from this mess? Absolutely nothing. I knew a chest xray would show nothing as when I was first diagnosed with first stage lung and pulmonary disease it showed nothing. That is not what chest xrays are for.

As to the mammogram there were technical difficulties that the technician was not trained for. Instead of seeking supervision they just decided to give a second consecutive mammogram.

What was the result? No result. Time Frame. They did not give a time frame. Bone Density he said seven days. Did they deliver? No. I had to go back to that imaging center and inquire. I was given sass about the bone density. Then I straightened them out. Listen I went to a hospital for a chest xray on a Saturday and on the following Monday my doctor knew they had that xray in their office. The person I spoke to then changed their attitude with me. They would send the bone density again and they would personally speak to the radiologist. Previously he said if you haven't been told anything then everything is ok. My primary doctor said the same thing as well as my friends. My friends have private insurance and they find out the very same day as the exam, they are asked to wait. They've never had a technician take two mammograms one right after the other. Duh.

The result of that representative talking personally to the radiologist was not a call to me or my doctor. It was a slimy form letter to me seven days later that I needed yet more mammographic views, sonogram and biopsy is not ruled out. When I was at my primary doctor's appointment she did not even know of the letter, yet I'd had it in hand for five days. Then she is all in a panic as she recovers it from "downstairs". She tells me that one in 3 women have breast cancer. A lie. She says her mother is the first to have breast cancer so it doesn't matter if generations in your family have not and lived a very long life without any medical care whatsoever. A lie. I've never taken hormones, drugs and I don't eat meat. No answer. If you don't have it that's good and if you do then that's bad. Her prognosis really restored my confidence in the healthcare system.

I attempted to get another imaging center to do any other work. The new imaging center said that a doctor appointment would need to be made, they need to review the case before the mammogram. I made such an appointment only to find out later that they just make an appointment for the doctor to be on site and there is no review. I cancelled, no way I am going through "technical difficulty" with them. This center has the same care core problem. I asked questions this time of their billing department. After some investigation; an investigation that the managing insurer asked me to do with their own carrier, I found that Medicare and medicaid patients are preauth'd and then the patient is billed directly for the service and faces determination letters from their insurer. I am not alone. The care core representatives at each level stated that they do not cover mammograms. To top that off yesterday the insurer representative told me you did not need to be preauth'd for a mammogram. I read her the determination letter that claims there was no preauthorization and this was not an emergency. In hand I have a copy of the preauthorization. When I go to these doctors I ask them for a copy. That let's me know I gave it to them. They write copy on it or stamp it. My diary has the extra visits I had to make to go get those from my doctor.

In both of the two examples I had to do the work and yet, the incompetence and fraud continues.

I have faxed the hospital advocate today with their doctor's bill. I will not do anything further with the imaging center bills as the HIP bill states its been paid. Whatever. I've called and I've done the work. My records are straight. Yesterday's representative told me I could call back next week and see if they are going to be able to help me. I said I will not be calling again. I just called you out of courtesy. As far as I am concerned the matter is settled.

pfft! If I'll get involved with another imaging center. There will be no third, fourth, fifth, sixth mammographic views or biopsy. I bet you I live until 120 without this lame brain healthcare system. On the internet I read about all these women my age receiving pretty similar results to mine. The women however went in "as told" and there was nothing wrong. My 78-year old aunt is being put through many, many mammographic views because of calcifications. Calicifications are normal for her age group, get over it. I do not believe women her age get breast cancer and if they do its because they've been xrayed every year for well over 30 years.

BNE lives on

2006 the San Fran mayor offers $2,500 reward for the BNE sticker tagger of over 200 locations in his city.

NYTimes publishes an interview with the tagger. the same year:

"The man said he had never been arrested, despite placing "10,000 stickers a month" in cities around the world. He said his competition was not other taggers, but "the Tommy Hilfigers, Starbucks, Pepsi. You have these billion-dollar companies, and I've got to look at their logos every day. Why can't I put mine up?"

Nuff said, drop your Tommy Hilfingers and check it out

I found an interesting Green Job internship

It allows telecommuting. I have all the skills required.

I will try. It looks like I would be able to maintain the six job relationships I already have.

I'm going for it. Experience is key when getting "the" job. Every little bit helps.

Lol I found this because I am doing a bit of research for another nephew. He's going to be the Vice President some day. He has two investors but does not know what kind of business he wants.

Personally I think a wedding planner business would provide him with a strong startup. When that is a success then he can branch out through that experience.

We shall see.

I found alot of really awesome links for him plus some things I learned from Guy on Twitter. We might just have a stronger entrepreneurial program in New York City. I plan to test it within the next couple of days. I am never at a loss for new businesses, lol I'm an idea person.

San Fran now has more green buildings than New York or L.A.

And they are off to the races, not a bad challenge at all.

What I like most about the Mayor of San Francisco's post on Ms. HuffnPuff's blog today is that he realizes that the most important green development to be done today for our future is in existing buildings. Oh, if only that would include residential apartment buildings.

" Existing Commercial Buildings Task Force, bringing together 19 key stakeholders from San Francisco's building community to recommend practical solutions to green the city's existing commercial buildings. They delivered their final report and recommendations (PDF) to me today."

A better education can quite simply be had from HP for nothing but your time and work

Whenever I have a free moment I take a look over the HP learning center site and take a course. You never know when the certification you have completed might give you an IN to a great job!

Check it out please.

One of my nephews is graduating this Friday evening

He will be awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Construction Science, a five year degree, accomplished in 4.5 years.

He worked in high school and in college and his parents both worked full and part time jobs to help finance this degree. His father is my VikingBro and he's been ill all those years but he's worked to make his family members strong. Hip Hip Hooray!

So congratulations to all of you and I know Ben will be President of the United States one day.

He will continue on to complete the Masters Program at Texas A&M. If you want a job in Sustainability it really does take one.

Great work!

Notice there are so many bikers yet there are no licensing requirements

I've always thought there should be stringent licensing on both bikers and automobile drivers.

LOL, no such requirement for either.

The poor pedestrian has to buckup their defensive for both.

I remember writing a couple of years back how I'd pulled Geekboy back just in the nick of time from a runaway SUV.

A few weeks ago a delivery person coming out of Yorkshire Towers on 86th Street caused me to fall down. I'm very steady on my feet and am always aware of where I'm walking. He on the other hand was racing out of the big residential complex on the sidewalk and turned into me before I even left the sidewalk. I fell backwards on my back (actually it was so slo-mo, fairly slapstick, you had better not laugh).

The speeder tried to help me but I said no, leave me alone. Usually I am much nicer than that but I was in pain and give me a break already. I was in shock. I got up and just walked. My bones were smarting. Once the pain stopped I went back to the doorman who had been standing by the door when the accident occurred. I had seen him walk away. I asked him which restaurant was that deliveryman from. He said he did not know. I said would you please ask your delivery people to not speed out of your premises. I also told him that the owners of that complex are responsible for my fall as the sidewalk is on their premises. He said he didn't see anything.

I just wanted to make sure that I put enough scare into him to effect a change.

I researched later. The advice is to always go to a doctor as soon as possible. Geekboy said why didn't you let them take you to the ER. I said are you kidding they would charge me thousands of dollars and do you know what that would be like trying to get that paid by those landlords. Forget about it. I told him usually the fractures and other pain don't occur right away but might happen as late as a week later. Its important to get it documented. He said oh so that's why you always read about these people going to ER after these things happen. I said yes, but I think they have money or medicaid or medicare. I don't. Sure enough a few days after the fall I could hardly get up and I had bruises on my back. It took a few weeks to walk it out.

I hope that never happens to me again. I can't say how I could be more careful. I'm very precautious. I'll say hey to these aggressive bicyclists that almost run you over. The problem with most of these speeders is that they'll never subject themselves to licensing for they are not even documented to be in this country.

I'd hate to see more bicyclists on the street. I'm an excellent bicyclist (I grew up in Houston, TX) but I don't ride on the bike pathways of New York City anymore. Too many bikers don't have a clue about road rules; its dangerous.

Clean up your smokers and cars NYC or maybe just your Alternaria

"In recent years, the city has focused on reducing its environmental impact. Large amounts of concentrated pollution in New York City led to high incidence of asthma and other respiratory conditions among the city's residents." The city government is ladidada and so on and so on.
See 2006 study of children

Yet in 2009 we know its not just children that suffer massively from asthma. We know the cause is not just big city trucks and buses; toxic wastes.

The largest contributor to asthmas is your everyday urban chain smoker and idling service automotives and all American car. Tell me ain't so but if you walk down every single street in New York City Manhattan you'll see nothing but cars parked without an inch to breathe and cars idling and cars chug alugging along the city roads. On each street you will find a dozen or more smokers hanging outside the front door of residential buildings.

Could Central Park and Urban Forestry have something to do with asthma?

Something very simple may be causing the vast majority of the asthmatics in New York City. A common mold, alternaria. http://www.immunocapinvitrosight.com/dia_templates/ImmunoCAP/Allergen____28150.aspx

And

Mugwort

Allergen

Mugwort pollen is one of main sources of hay fever and allergic asthma, in North Europe, North America and in parts ofAsia.[3][4]. Mugwort pollen generally travels less than 2000 meters[5]. The highest concentration of mugwort pollen is generally found between 9 and 11 am. The Finnish allergy association recommends tearing as method of eradicating mugwort[5]. Tearing mugwort is known to lessen the effect of the allergy, since the pollen flies only short distance[5]].--wiki

Now how in the world would I come across these two items? They were among the high sensitivity scores in my allergist's tests report recently. Mugwort also presents itself as a close relative to tobacco, thus second hand smoke, move over 400 other harmful chemicals.

Geekboy and I went to the Russian Tea Room for Brunch yesterday

Highly recommend for the ambience.

Geekboy went to Leningrad when he was but a pre-teen with his school group. I play Moscow on Mafia Wars.

At the Russian Tea Room he ordered the Bortscht (so much beef) and the 3 sliders (mini-hamburgers, he said the beef was the best). I tasted his frenchfries they had a parsley, parmesan dusting, nice.

I had pecan pancakes.

We split cheese blintzes for desert.

I liked the tea the most. I was told by the server that in Russia they traditionally serve tea with cherries and honey. It the first time I had cherries in my tea and it was pretty great.

The service is excellent at this restaurant, they are very accommodating.

We walked to the Bryant Park holiday shops. The city had about 10" of tourist fall from upstate New York. hmm Rensselaer, NY. I saw a nice product in a shop there; a sachet shaped like a hot water bottle filled with lavendar and essential oils. You place it in the microwave with a little container of water for about a minute. The lifetime of the product is three years and the cover may be washed. Its made by aromahome. I thought it would be a swell holiday gift for an 80-year old mom but she said no.
