New York City in the Grey

I am moving away from the A train and I am so grateful.

Its wholly unreliable, dirty, dangerous and takes 30-45 minutes to get from 192nd street to 59th street.  On the weekends the service does not run at all.

When the fares go up I will not be using MTA.  I found a place where I can walk to work and everything I need is within walking distance.

NYCGrey is my term for the people who are so self-absorbed that they have no pride in the city they pollute.  They get into their car and they drive wherever they desire.  They know they are polluting the fresh air of New York City and they don't care because their immediate gratification is #1.

I don't believe the current Mayor is really serious about making New York City green, no signs of it.  Oh, like dollars bills, ok, got it.

The healthy kind of green is not on his agenda else Mr. Friedan would have a pink slip.  New York City is not smoke free.  Every tourist knows that, its quite the shocker for them, obnoxious I heard one say as a smoker puffed smoke in their face and then threw the cigarette right in front of them.

Yes the ex-smoking mayor has kept New York City in the Grey, not the green, puff-puff.

Please do not vote for him, we must find someone else.

When credit card companies tell you they are raising their rates or that your credit is lowered

I am a customer who has excellent credit. I have never made a late payment in my entire credit life.

I received an important message from Discover today at the end of April that in May 2009 the company will greatly increase their charges and the rate will be variable.

Do you really think that I will keep them. No they are fired.

American Express also wrote me a letter and called me and said that they are decreasing my credit. Do you think I really care, I don't even use it.
But they are fired.

Citi continues to charge me for a bounce fee that their system created. They gave me a "courtesy" payment for their bounce and never answered the question and my credit history? They ignored it as they waddled to their trough. I guess they don't know I will obliterate them in court if we wind up that way. I have every single one of their emails and voicemails. All of their theivery is on record.

Its not just a $36.92 fee it is that every month they are charging me a finance charge of $24.92 on the $36.92 fee. And they will not desist their crime even though they say they will. This is the third month, next month if they have not cured their habit I will send all to the Federal Reserve complaint address.

You have to be an idiot bank to not think your customer who has no charges or purchases ever made on that card won't notice such a finance charge.

Citi wrote me well over 10 years ago that they had made a mistake with my IRA, yeah they stole $60,000 from it and its never been recovered. There was so much bureaucracy and then I heard the attorney general of New York was going after them. Ah not for the real customers just for New York State's fat pockets. Yeah a real justice to the people.

Citi is fired.

The problem is you have to keep all of the above company's cards as it will ruin your credit score to cancel them. They are fired and their cards will just get buried in my back yard.

If ObamaNation ever gets real they could change the consumer credit industry by allowing people to cancel their service with a company and have that service record not be a part of the credit scoring.  But ObamaNation is not real, the banking industry is not cured it is just getting worse; their is no excuse for such negligence, I am not surprised I did not vote for him.

Time Warner Cable sends me a letter

The best way for a cable company to get fired is to send a loyal customer a letter that unsolicited email is coming from your computer.

It is a violation of your constitutional rights and they just act like oh someone complained so you are it.

The emails sent from my computer are very small people write me and I write them back. Its not all that frequent.

I do not have wireless internet.

I have an antivirus and advanced care system on my site.

There are no viruses.

There is no validity to their claim.

I do not like to be gaslighted by a company and when this happens they are fired.

They were going to be fired anyway because I have given them a months notice that I was moving and when I move to my new place I will not subscribe to their service. I plan on having no further use of their poor and unreliable service. Their answer to my advanced notice is your account is closed five days after you give us the equipment. In other words, you must be without internet five days before you move. Really nice, that is why they are fired. Noone likes to have to do double work and that is what I've had to do.

Here is a company that knows how to treat a loyal and good standing customer. They took my notice of end of service and my service to this apartment goes off on April 30, 2009. no double work, done.

My last weekend in the apartment from Hell

Oh but we still be in court...

Today I saw the apartment I will most likely move in.
I've checked out its truliability and acrisability and buildingsability.

hmmm should I be tuned into the fact that
the buildings department has highlighted in red and big white letters STOP WORK ORDER EXISTS FOR THIS PROPERTY.

and that it may be a coop conversion as one of the apartments has been sold as a coop.

Its amazing because the average real estate listing in this zipcode is $2million.

The building I am in never got one of those highlighted in red things but they have oh so many hazardous violations, they always manage to wiggle out of it because the callers hide behind anonymous.

I notice at this new building the callers are not cowards they stand behind what they see and they get things done.

I've decided that this is a good thing.

In my apartment search this evening I discovered that my first apartment in New York City where I lived 11 years now rents for $2,398 and it is only 300 square feet.

Also, that an apartment building listed as smokefree indeed was not and they said the same tripe as this buildings broker, no problem, don't you want to see it. I backed off and said no thank you, I have had more than a lifetime of hell from smokers thank you.

When I returned home I was looking in igoogle at my widget for streeteasy and craigslist and found the apartment that I will probably take.

The floors have been redone, the kitchen and bathroom are new. He said the bathtub had been reglazed. uh..............

Well at least it doesn't have a hole in it like my current tub which has to be plunged every single day. The kind unit owner who says she is diligent about every complaint of which there has only been one, second hand smoke, said oh, that just old pipes, yeah dis is a very old building.

She charges me $1200 for dis very old building and that's how much my new apartment is going to cost.

Thank the real estate gods wherever you are that dis is my last weekend here. I am not the person I was when I came here and I hope that living in a place designed for human beings will allow my true me to return. Who knows I might take blogging up again.

When a bank asks you to be a friend on Facebook...

Do you simply say no...

Tell them you wouldn't even let your dog lick them...

or simply bury their card in the back yard with all the things you never want to see again...

hypothetically speaking, of course...

Not trained as human beings, Not trained at all; the MTA

I've experienced this, people just watching while you are attacked.  Whether you are an employee of the City or not, you have a duty as a citizen and as a human being, to come to a person's aid.

A couple stood watching as I was being attacked by a racial slurring man with a knife in East Williamsburg on the way to work about five years ago.  I made him cry with my screaming, I made the crucial mistake of listening to him and then he reattacked.  I took an umbrella and rammed it into his groin and ran.  Along the way there was a man who picks through garbage and he was crying miss, miss did he hurt you?  People will not protect you in this city I knew that already.  I was going out of my house at a reasonable hour to work and I was attacked.  That never happened to me in my entire 30+ years of living in New York City.

So whereever you are scream and don't talk to the person and try to stay off the subways late at night, its not like they say, safe 24 hours, the people who say that don't care about you, they are just trying to help the mayor buy the city.  The police are not here to help you, they only help corporations.

I never take the subway late at night, its not worth it.  Its bad enough you have to take it at 6:00am while a drunk loudly sings and drinks all the way.

Just know that we pay more than enough for the subway and we get back nothing in return.  We pay through our sales tax, through our income tax and our rent and through our transit fares and we still get nothing.  I am never quick to take the subway I always figure out how much time is it going to take me to wait and how much time to walk.  Walking always wins over.  If more people thought that way and did not pay the monthly fare our MTA would suddenly know who is boss.

Is Citi a Thief?

Apparently not only I but many others have been duped by Citi on late charges, finance charges and credit reporting for lateness when we paid our bills on time.

Citi Fraud

I have spent many hours courteously trying to reason with their discourteous and unreasonable staff over the above. First they gave me a "courtesy" payment to cover the payment return charge. Then they applied a $14.75 finance charge on the payment return charge that they gave a courtesy payment to. Their reply to me was a lecture on being on time with payments.  Totally useless and totally irrelevant.  I had done nothing wrong, because I made the payment on time despite the obstacles that citi put before me.  I made the payment through another bank.  Lesson to me never pay through citi.  Once I am finished paying them off that will be it.  I will keep their card though because it takes 20 years to get it off your record.

This is the response to why is there a $14.75 finance charge on my statement when I have a 0% balance.  I have a balance transfer that I am paying off and I have made no purchases with your card?
From the citithief files:

"Paying your balance in full by the payment due date saves you money because it allows you to take advantage of your 20-25 day grace period on purchases. If you wish to take advantage of this period, simply make sure that we receive your full payment by the payment due date.

However, if we do not receive your full payment by the payment due date every month, the finance charges for purchases will begin to accrue from the date the transaction is added to your balance. They will continue to accrue until payment in full is credited to your account. This means that when you make your final payment on these balances, you will pay interest for the time between the date your last statement prints and the date your payment is credited to your account.

Once you have paid your account in full by the payment due date for two consecutive months, you may again be able to take advantage of the 20-25 day grace period"

Lets see, just like all the people at the Citi Fraud link you will find we all have one thing in common unblemished credit records all payments made on time (in my case over 35 years) and we did not make a late payment, we all paid Citi days in advance of their due date for the payment.

Contact the Federal Reserve once you have taken all of the constructive steps with Citi. Keep records of every single piece of correspondence.

Why I find this White House Nomination Obscene

State Labor Commissioner Is Picked for Federal Job

This has to be a joke and it is, its the same cruel joke that residents of New York City face every day. There is a real horror show being played out in our state and city.

The NYS Labor Department is badly run. They allow incredibly incompetent people to hold their jobs, they lie, cheat in order to save the unemployment funds for people who don't live in New York City. No big news to anyone and I wonder if Obama even cares.

This commissioner deserves a firing not a hiring.

Like I said it will be four long unjust years.

All the people who voted for Obama are wallowing well in the abyss however, isn't that how it usually is.

I see no change, I see continuance. Honestly, the emperor wears no clothes.

In Memoriam to Lillian Hatfield Melton

Uncle Bill (far left), Little Lil in Becky's (my mom's) lap

William H. Hatfield III passed away October 1, 2001 at the age of 71, his obituary is here.

I am so fortunate to have had this tiny sweet beautiful aunt in my life. She passed away on Sunday April 5, 2009 at 6am at her home under hospice care.

She is my mom's baby sister. She was named after her aunt, real estate tycoon-ess Lillian Hatfield of Newport, California.

Our Aunt Lil never left those joyful expressions she gifts us in the above photo with her siblings. She always had that smile and glee in her eyes. She followed her bliss throughout her life, books, her stunningly beautiful quilts, her family and even some years of traveling the country in an RV with her husband.

This is the image of her that I'll always keep and treasure.

The morning of my aunt's passing away began with a showering of images of her blissfulness. It was before my mom called. I can remember feeling so appreciative of her outlook on life and what she had done. I was having hopes for her grandchildren that they might grow up with many more years of guidance.

She always greeted us with such a sweet and welcoming and sincere kiss and hug; bountiful HowRUs.

I remember many a weekend sitting with my Dama sewing the hems for my aunt's college clothes. She had very loving parents who both worked very hard to give her the financial means to all of her educational dreams and she did the work to keep up her part of the bargain.

She was a very determined young woman taking summer school in high school years to graduate early, completing her bachelors at Texas Women's College at Denton and then going on to earn a Masters in Library Science at Louisiana State University (LSU). She was appointed by Mayor Welch to head up the Houston Public Library at the beginning of her career.

She left Houston to raise her family in Nacogdoches. When her children had grown she reeentered her field as a simple librarian checking out books tirelessly and with dedication because that was the only post available in this small town.

She retired from the Nacogdoches public library as its director and having developed and established its historical collection which included the area's wealth of quilts. She was an amazing quilter and she also gave to causes for the underprivileged of Nacogdoches. She thought about the people in her area that had no food or means of advancement. She did not think we ought to be building roads when we cannot build these people's dreams. Don't Give Up

Aunt Lil leaves behind two talented and beautiful children, both graduates of Stephen F. Austin State University at Nacogdoches, TX, two beautiful grandchildren, a loving husband, 7 nieces and nephews, 6 great nieces and nephews and 1 great great niece, and her remaining, sibling, my mom, the big sister, Becky.

If you have diabetes please get screened for the cancers associated with it, don't count on a doctor to think about it; be proactive. If detected early alot of these associated cancers can be screened and cured.

As my Dad was passing away in late December 2008, my aunt visited him and she was torn asunder with grief, she said he has always been a big brother to her. That is what I think we her nieces and nephews will say in memory, she was just like a big sister to us. She'll be missed and we are so shocked. With my dad he was passing away for years and we were in grief and yes, it was shocking when he did. With her, at least I never had a clue, she kept everything to herself, she was a Christian Scientist.

If you know my aunt and would like to leave your memoriam or any correction to my recollection above, please feel free to do so by clicking the bubble comment above this post; your thoughts are much appreciated.

In Memorium to Clifford Newton Miller, Jr.

There was no glass at all

In the case of Seth Godin's April Fool's "Exceeding expectations (or don't bother)"

Would it have been better to have a glass half full or empty instead of no glass at all?
