Money talks in New York City while Integrity walks

In each and every way the Mayor of the city has taken away the rights of so many of us. Whether it is in ignoring and allowing his departments to ignore our safety, health and mental well being, going to bat for the speaker wallowing in her fraud, he's responsible for her and the Building Commissioner, he speaks highly of her negligence, well he's responsible for her and her negligence.

Now the 911 responders have been denied benefits, because their workplace is not in the same class as other workers in the Labor law. However on the subway there are tons of ads that shout out if you lived or worked near the world trade center you are entitled to benefits. Isn't it true wherever they are called to is the responder's workplace. They don't choose. Its the order of the day from the City who now turns their back on them.

The mayor allowed a legitimate member of the media to be arrested with no warning of trespass at a conference regarding the respondent's future health benefit. Some may like or dislike this particular member of the press, the fact is he was a member of the press and his rights were violated because his opinion was not favorable to the mayor. If his opinion had been favorable to the mayor he would not have been arrested.
See the story here.

Its truly amazing that New Yorkers have to go all the way to the federal courts to protest Mayor Bloomberg's buy of third terms for himself and his little ponies in the City council. Justice Department ruled in his favor, big surprise.

Yeah, Yeah, so New York City turned off some lights in the tourist district yesterday. Where I live the lights were on, except for my apartment. There was no collaberative effort, it was an "I Love New York" effort.

Testing Photoshopped Water

against the real thing.

The Real Tapwater from New York City

They'll tell you this white water is due to pressurization, etc.   So why does it smell and feel greasy, sometimes almost soapy and even after passed through a brita filter the water leaves brown rings around the white pot; it looks brown in the pot.

Water from Kanye West's Blog, here, PhotoShop???

http://bitly.com/PS4water

Today geekboy and I ate at a restaurant that asked for a donation for Tap Water at the end of the meal. I said no. When we don't have clean tapwater in $1200 a month New York City apartments what business do we have taking care of other people's water. We can't even take care of our own.

Best to add that $1 towards the $169 it takes to test your tapwater.

Really tacky and bad idea, hitting up people for a dollar after their meal.  I have been hit up so many times at twitter for water, what a bore.  I might as well walk down 42nd street in Manhattan, I'd get hit up less times.

I asked the guy who gave us the ticket do you have clean water coming out of your faucet?   He said no.  He said it was rusted, brown, just like mine.  He said he had even worked with the super to no avail.

Health Department, dream on, they only issue form letters, they are on the big search for something more real.  We know its uncomfortable for you to drink rusted water but people in Africa don't have "clean" water.   We know its uncomfortable for you to smell and eat the exhaust fumes from our limousines but other people have to do that too.   We know you have to wait at the stop light while five people smoke on you from all sides or walk down the subway tunnel while the people smoke walking out with you, but other people are having to experience that also, its just uncomfortable, but it not real.  Yes we came to your apartment building and saw cigarette butts in the window awnings, in the stairwells, in the elevator and under the hallway heaters but we did not witness a violation because we don't know what the code really means, it wasn't really mean't for that.  Oh yeah, we're mad as H___ and we're not going to take it anymore, suggests the mayor for a subway situation that he did not seek to cure.  He focused on getting his limousine and taxi buds a free ride and the traffic away from where he lives and left the straphangers hanging way below the bar.  What a meme, so original.

Still lost in space but with a plan

Ah yes, the month that's almost past, where bestoftrendy.com is lost in space.

I let the hosting company go. I reflected, I decided that maybe I had approached them the wrong way somehow when I setup the plan. I told them what I wanted and didn't ask them if they could provide it.

Because of the long delay on issuing the transfer the auth code somehow expired? and it was not discovered until after the third try.

And the url redirection I resolved that, I deleted the A record. Ah but not so fast I have 6.2Megs of content at bestoftrendy.com that I wanted to transfer over. The maximum upload of their php.ini (whereever it was) was 2M. And when no help on that was forthcoming after 36 hours I decided it was not mean't to be with that company and me and cancelled.

I have another hosting company where I can go right into the php db and change the ini and htaccess. I'm better off there. I'll just put bestoftrendy there over the weekend...hmm after I get my legal papers all in. Whoever said I had time to twitter anyway.

Well now that the past is past I have a sense of optimism, bestoftrendy.com will soon be free, on its own server, using wordpress and I will become a wordpress pro by default of my hard labor.

So just what did happen in the case of the wayward hosting company and registrar?

Things should have got better right?

Well the registrar company called. They have no centralized system for gathering emails on a topic nor can they read pdfs because of security issues. hmm... I had to call them back because I do not take calls whose numbers are not registered in my contacts.

I received an email from the caller explaining the above and asking me to call. I did. He promised to follow through with yet a third domain transfer. I was wondering now what is the middleman going to think, is this going to register an alert. hmm.

I forwarded the hosting company contact to this registrar. Minutes later, I received an email from the hosting company that they had sent the transfer letter. They also stressed to me how important it was for me to click it. hmm I have two middlemen letters stating that I clicked the letters. hmm becomes humma at this point.

This leg of the great misadventure was five hours ago and no word yet from the middlemen. For me that's a tip that things are not going well. Usually the letter would have already been forthcoming.

I am trying to figure out which party has the unlucky star. Surely not me, though it looks that way as my domain value just in name has dropped $1500. Let's not even talk about what happens when people click on the links at the top of 30 million links and it timesout. No lets not talk about how incredibly damaging that is.

Good lord, I have done everything.

I was watching Brothers & Sisters on my laptop where Nora goes beyond hope to free a missing Tommy. Yes Nora I have done everything to free my domain.

p.s. I am only keeping these posts for 24 hours and then I delete them, because what's the point.

5 Things Twitter & Fortune Magazine Should Not Follow

Ok so this tweeter rocked her website for Twitter, so what.

People are always rocking something over there at Twitterland.

I mean, really a Fail-Whale Club /: ?

1. I think Twitter is already a small team working on product development and marketing. Most likely they need to go the other direction, small great teams, emphasis on great and plural lots of them ('behind every leader is a great team'.)

2. A forum for twitter users on product developments they'd like to see.
Sorry but Twitter can't even handle its help questions without unholy righteous Dude attitude.
Skip this one.

3. Yes paying attention to competitors and what they are copping off your product is good.

But why waste the money and energy on analysis. Just hire the Xeroxing dudes, totally cheaper.

4. Oh p-le-a-s-e. Twitter doesn't need to integrate or expand 3rd party apps
it needs to get a grip on them.
It needs to delink them and
read them their rights this very minute.

I am no longer with Twitter because one of their 3rd party apps is telling me that Twitter isn't updating me for weeks.
5. Twitter should stop listening to people who want to make the world go round. The world is already going round. Think about why you built this thing in the first place; go back to your roots.

Hey Twitter dudes, I don't follow you,
Follow me!

Cupcakes & Bacon & Martha - Trendy Engagement Techniques

I look at Craigslist for jobs about three times a day. I don't search I go through every single possibility.

I always find really interesting places but not jobs.

Oh Great, Bro has gone Generic

On August 16, 2006 the question was asked "When Will Google Go Generic?"

To most it was the most startling phenom that a search engine would become a household noun, verb, adverb, conjunctive, part of every major word in a conversation, but it was happenin.'

And later on in that same year Twitter was birding out generic handles through its api.

Then bitch made it as ok at the Academy Awards, sure it was natch for Slum Dog to hip hop on down the runway a couple of years later in the 2009 Acadamy awards while the American Idol idiots were calling the Talent Adoop a dog every other word in their attempt to sound conversational.

Right and fine, that's the top of the trends folks, that's how you've raised your babies, that's our future. Its a future that lacks individuality or leaders, lacks character and personalability.

Yes so read the NYTimes while they slide Bro right into your generic word vocabulation, we are all thumb typing like idiots any way. I guess its alright as long as we think we are cool dogs. Isn't He Bromantic?

If you see a leprechaun tomorrow talk to him ...

From the Unicorn Garden the story of the Vikings and the Leprechaun.

Real World Touch Guided me to a Trendy Site

Yes, its true I was at a Border bookshop in NYC and saw Ramit Sethi's book on the new book display last week. I browsed it.

Then I saw a mention of his site at a domain name site on the internet, I signed up for his newsletter. The rest is history.

Ramit Sethi's Trendy Engagement Technique

You may have noticed this blog is residing under The Best of Trendy domain. I am moving Best of Trendy over to its own server. The rehabbed Best of Trendy will incorporate Trendy Engagement Techniques for sure. It will be on Word Press platform. As I pick up and incorporate these Trendy Techniques along the way I'll share them. Here is Trendy Technique of the day.

  • Fall in love with Suze Orman (other objects of affection may be substituted)
  • Write a book about how to get rich (other niches may be substituted)
  • Create a Domain name that tells the customer exactly what content is going to be delivered at the site.

I Will Teach You To Be Rich
Easy 7-step plan, takes less than a minute of his potential customer's time. Time where he is consistently in step with his message and product. Cool!

I have left Twitter today

Warning this is a considerably large rant (over 140 characters) and I am most likely to edit it down to twitterwordiness as time goes on. Basically I just figured out I didn't want to go through another really bad customer service experience right now or at least another one in the foreseeable decade. My mind is blitzed. Twitter people are lovely and I'll miss them, I am subscribed to most of their blogs.

There is a program in Twitterville called Twitalyzer. It was really teaching me how to use Twitter more valuably. Things like don't be so generous with the retweets and links.

Twitalyzer has been unavailable to me for almost three weeks because Twitter was not updating me in their twitter search. So sayeth Twitalyzer and the link it provided for possible Twitter search on my @trendygoodnight work-no-longer-in-progress. I found that friends of mine were being updated every few hours. What's up with that? Oh about 1,300, 13x as much users than they had is what's up (I learned to write that way from Mr. Tweet).

Customer support means you support your customer

I wrote to Twitter support. A second after I submitted my request I realized I had critical errors in my request. I had to submit another request; the crucial difference from "I am being updated" to "I am not being updated."

Twitter support wrote me the following order:

"PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT MULTIPLE REQUESTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. DUPLICATE REQUESTS WILL BE DELETED AND YOUR ORIGINAL REQUEST WILL BE PUSHED TO THE END OF THE QUEUE."

I mean, who can work with that. Like where do you go, that means possibly weeks of misunderstanding and no understanding. Its like blogger and citibank all over again. Who needs it? I don't.

I felt like twitter opened me up to some things I just wasn't looking for and at the Twitterous moment thought I needed.

Then I look at all of it in hindsight and see its really a time waster for a person in my impoverished circumstances. Its built around getting somewhere I don't want to be or I would not be able to go. There is nothing I want or can want there.

I deleted the 'trendygoodnight' account with a twinfluence #388 (99%) and High social capital 99%. Several weeks ago at twitalyzer I had 99.8% signal to noise ratio and 99.8% generosity. My clout and infuence were evolving at 3%. 1410 follow / followers. Trust me I was not reaching or aggressively reaching for numbers. I was reaching for people that I could have conversations with.

Solemn contemplation of the decision of untwittering

Leaving Twitter is not just on a tear. I've been comtemplating my leave from the moment I set up an account on a friend's invite last May 2008, no picture, no name, no profile (later, I thought). I didn't use it even once. About five weeks ago I started to use Twitter because my mentor said it was good for my blog, sorry but it wasn't. He said SocialToo was good, sorry but it wasn't. SocialToo auto followed people who followed me with the promise that it would prevent spam, ain't so. Well I probably have about 50 people in those thousands that I wouldn't have accepted myself. So few, yeah I was racing to beat the service all the time. I finally figured out some time that I could go back and turn it off or end it. I am most certain I had clicked off autofollow in the beginning, hmm? I would advise people now, if a third party app asks for your password and account name, oh, do think more than 3xs and click your heels before you do that.

The Ick Factor

It was the ick factor at twitter that made me want to leave and continued ick factor perpetuated by the customer service that concluded my awkwardly awesome participation in Twitterville. Ick Factor? = suggest follows? Who wants to follow people who don't care what you say, meaning follow back? I always kept my Follow / Follower ratio at 1.0, equal standing equals conversation.

I leave knowing I've had the complete twitter experience.

If the social network you are in doesn't have respect for the small things, consider yourself clued in to your future there. I went to tweetwasters recently and they reported that I had twittered away 2.2 hours. Darn!

Now Twitter might be for you, you might not share customer support burnout syndrome, and if that's the case I have to share with you that @GuyKawasawki @ChrisPirello @ChrisBrogan would be awesome first choices for someone starting out on the Twitter Road. If they twig where you are coming from they'll @ reply you back.

Really Twitter get with good customer support at the minimum. Because for me at burnout stage, leaving is not such sweet sorrow its a relief.

Oh yeah, so what if I wake up tomorrow and get Twitter withdrawal pains? Nah I already found more appropriate substitutes for today and possibly through the rest of this decade. I'll be alright. Hey thanks for caring :#

Ambiguous headlines misguide the public...

Here's the headline...

U.S. states can divert stimulus for Medicaid --NY

In a double whammy calamity of words NY Governor Paterson sayeth:

1. "U.S. states, including New York, can use some of the Medicaid aid in the U.S. economic stimulus plan for other programs."

2. The state [New York] ranks 30th in the quality of its healthcare and "Statistics show patients still aren't getting the care they deserve".

A big "huh?" to you Mr. Peach!

My Dad At Rest

SAM's picture 3/8/09

Today I received twitters and emails from various people talking about either how few people showed up at a funeral or how things were so good during the boom and now so bad (for them).

My mom would not let us invite people to the funeral, neighbors and friends were excluded. Still over 50 people showed up to pay respect to my Dad with less than 24 hours notice. However, we were told the Army could not come on such short notice.

And let it be known that the hospital that performed malpractice and negligence on my Dad will get away with it because my mom refuses to stand up. That Medicare will also get away with not providing nursing care for my Dad at the end. Lastly that the retirement plan that my dad had for his entire life was robbed by these investment predators and the company he worked for.

So really I don't know who these people are who had the booms all these years. My Dad nor I did and I am pretty sure quite a few people have been suffering during the past Clinton/Bush years. The prosperity that Clinton claimed was not, while painting the town social, deregulating banks and importing and creating new citizens he tore citizens of generations from their homes and jobs and disgarded them though they were just as talented, actually more talented.

Ah but as you see we all meet our maker and then what did they take with them. I think nothing.

Karma indeed.

I noticed that they had engraved the wrong commission for my Dad, he received 1st lieutenant commission in 1955 and has such commission framed and hung on his office wall. My mom and sister agreed to make a request through the funeral home and I have made a request through the VA online. My mom says that she submitted the commission to the VA via the funeral home. Its very simple, Small things mean alot in terms of respect to those who serve their country.

Do I need email?

I participated in the Great Social Experiment of the Millenium, facebook and twitter.

Hmm my family is on facebook

and people I don't know are on Twitter (I am trying to get to know them).
(well ok, I know 2 people, a sister and her friend)

I am used to being analyzed on Google.

Facebook, analysis, are you kidding, where?

Oh and for twitter there is twitanalysis and even if you don't push the wrong button it tells the twitter world that you are insanely generous; something you really don't want anybody to know.

The real question I want to ask is do I still need email?

I figure if I didn't have email I'd never know that someone was knocking on my door at facebook or twitter and maybe that would be a good thing, at least for a little while.

p.s. If you can't get me by email then just follow me at twitter --> @trendygoodnight
Facebook? Good Luck! there are so many people with my name, even in the city where I live.

Whatever happened to using the cellphone?
